Lifehack...

When eating scrambled eggs informally at home (as opposed to eating them with the Queen) use a bowl rather than a plate.

sides of the bowl make it much easier to ensure even distribution of ketchup.

I don't know how the Queen does it...probably has a royal egg and ketchup smusher on staff.

(turned out to me not enough ketchup, but I didn't want to retake pic after I added more since sides of bowl were then messy and I'm clearly too much of a professional breakfast photographer to post that.)image.jpeg

PSA: Chives > ketchup

I don't think I've ever had ketchup on eggs before though

Chives could work on eggs, but will never trump ketchup.  But to me ketchup is important enough it should be its own food group, so I may be biased due to personal preference.

chives and ketchup together with bacon and cheddar cheese:  now that's some scrambled eggs I want to have for dinner tonight.

and Buffy's blue bowl is very pretty.

Make that American cheese and it does sound good!

and thanks - dollar store bowl.  One of the kids broke a couple bowls and replaced them with these from the dollar store.  I liked the color so much I went back and got more.

Hot sauce trumps ketchup.

Cheese trumps hot sauce, although I'm not opposed to both. Scrambled eggs should be scrambled without additives like milk or water, but a variety of spices is always welcome.

We also have "fights" in our house about how done the eggs should be. I prefer them slightly undercooked, where as the mister wants them overcooked for "safety."

And now I want eggs.

Same argument in my house, @Maggie Mae - I'm a soft scramble kind of girl and he overlooks them for safety.  I've been eating soft scrambled eggs and even raw cookie dough at times my entire life without incidence...ill take my chances.

I also don't use milk or water (never heard of using water actually until now) - but no hot sauce.  I don't know how anyone eats that stuff...I lack the gene to enjoy spicy food so it's just painful to me.

and I hate most cheese - which makes me werid.

Now I want coconut ice cream - but not badly enough to get dressed and go get it.

I'm a fan of both hot sauce and ketchup, so no arguments there.  Chives are yummy too.  But -- where's the fresh ground black pepper?  a dash of cayenne powder?  chopped garlic?  If you can't eat garlic on a staycation, something is terribly terribly wrong!

The first time someone made me scrambled eggs by cracking them into a glass of milk I freaked out and started pointing and grunting a "No!" sound. I seriously think doing anything other than cracking the egg directly into the saucepan is unpatriotic and should be grounds for being brought before the HUAC (that's still around right?).

not in egg like that! Or at least not without shallot. Then you're talking. With a dash of soy sauce and a scraping of fresh ginger. (yes I am that weird)

I won't raise any objections to shallot, soy sauce or fresh ginger, no indeedy I won't!

On the other hand, I would probably add the garlic regardless of what else is going in. :my_blush:

However, just so @nausicaa knows, I am perfectly fine with eggs being cracked directly into the pan and all the other goodies being added later.  Please don't call the HUAC on me!*

* on the other hand, I'm not a fan of either apple pie or popcorn, which probably is cause to bring in the HUAC.  Sigh.

I am okay with scrambling in the pan, but I find that it's easier and cleaner to scramble them first, add spices, and then put them in the pan. It also makes them more consistent.

I have a friend who adds cooked rice to the eggs and scrambles them that way. I do not agree with that. I like my rice on the side, thank you very much.

Also not a popcorn fan.  And why has this become the accepted workplace snack?  The smell of it from the microwave has far reaching power and lingers forever.

i have never had eggs scrambled properly in the pan, but I'm sure it can be done if you're fast enough.  I need consistency and a thorough mix of white and yolk so I whisk pre pan.  I do go straight pan if just doing egg whites, though.

rice in scrambled eggs sounds weird, then I remembered I love egg foo yung and that's got a kind of (not really) scrambled egg thing going on and I eat that with rice.  But yes, on the side.

I have one kid who cannot stand scrambled eggs...since infancy he would recoil...but likes over easy, hard boiled, or soft boiled.  I have my own weird issues, but always amusing to me how what is innocuous to some is horrific to others when it comes to food.

speaking of eggs..,I haven't had a perfect soft boiled egg since my mom died.  She had a knack for getting them where the white was perfectly cooked and the yolk still completely runny.  It was my favorite thing when I was sick...soft boiled eggs and cinnamon toast.  Mine are always either undercooked or slightly over and I end up tossing them.

Eggs seem simple but for soft oiled or poached seconds seperate perfection from inedible.

I have never thought about garlic in eggs.  that could work.  My tastes are plain when it comes to eggs, but garlic makes almost anything better.  love garlic.

Ketchup. Blech.

I am so boring...I just put pepper on my scrambled eggs. And I'm an "overcooked" kind of person. Not really for safety. I just like the texture.

I don't know. It shouldn't be. I used to have this weird time management game (like diner dash but set in an office with different animation. I know, those games are all terrible.) and one of the tasks was to "make popcorn." While the character made the popcorn, everyone else int he office evacuated and/or complained and made faces. Maybe it was a little different than diner dash. Now I'm going to have to waste MORE of my companies time and see if I can track it down.

It wasn't awful or anything, it just wasn't the way I like them. I like my eggs to be like eggs, not chopped up rice omelettes. I do like to order rice with my eggs when it's an option.

Gag to soft-boiled eggs.

I have tried a hundred times to make soft-boiled eggs for my ramen and it never works out. Maybe that's why I hate soft-boiled eggs. I've just never had them done right.

I've never thought to add tomato sauce/ketchup to scrambled eggs. I used to add milk, because that was what mum always did, but a friend made them without milk a few years back - so much better!  I like mine with a dash of cracked pepper, on toast, and I'm going to show my Australian-ness here, because the toast, of course, has Vegemite on it.  It's a Sunday night staple at our house, particularly since I have finally found a frypan which it doesn't stick to.

I love eggs. The thought of ketchup on eggs make me want to gag. Hot sauce or salsa, yes please! Eggs over easy with avacado and hot sauce is my go to fave these days.

Putting garlic in eggs reminds me of when I was about 9 or 10 we went to Minnesota for vacation. At some point I was talking to one of the resort chefs and I was telling her I like to cook and we were talking about eggs and I told her how I like to put garlic in my eggs. I couldn't figure out why she was so surprised. My kids are super picky though.

I have similar bowls but they are orange and I got them at my grocery store a few years ago. You got a certain amount of stickers based on how much you spent then filled out a card and got dishes. I got the whole set, and pots and pans that way too.

It's funny because as a mom of two young kids (6 & 3) I am very much a "time and place" person when it comes kids in public spaces. I think that 100% yes kids have a right to be in public places, and kids in restaurants and planes and places are just a part of life. BUT, I do think there is such a thing as using common sense and I feel like wayyyy too many parents these days feel entitled to bring their kids to places that while it's within their right to do so, it's probably not appropriate.

I do admit though that I am probably slightly biased on the subject because as a wedding & family photographer I see it alllll the time. I'm team no kids at weddings, which is always a hot topic. And for me it really boils down to the fact that weddings are formal events and *most* of the time the kids are a big disruption. And it's not that they're being bad, *they're just being kids*. Unfortunately too many parents just either a) don't pay attention or keep their kids in check, or b) are watching their kids and find nothing wrong with their behavior.

We are relatively strict parents when it comes to behavior, dare I say "old school". We take our kids out to restaurants A LOT, we fly with them regularly, etc. No kids are perfect, and no matter how strict you are every kid has their moments, tantrums, etc. IMO the difference is in how you handle it and doing so in a way that it doesn't disrupt other people. That might not be a popular opinion, but I absolutely feel that while it's my right to take my kids out to dinner, it's also the right of the other patrons to not listen to my kids yell and scream and be annoying.

I really think it depends where you live as to what attitudes people have towards kids. I always felt really insecure about having my kids in public in Southern Ontario (where mega families were common) because people were unbelievably judgy about how they behaved and my parenting in general.

Then we moved to downtown Montreal, where having more than 1 kid was considered a big family, and everyone is just so kind and supportive and encouraging. No one batted an eye at them. I swear that’s why we moved here.

I feel like they're just regular old Fall family portraits...it's that time of year! All my clients are getting on the books for their Christmas card photos now too. At first I thought maybe an announcement based on the bear with pink ribbon, but I actually think it's more possible that is just to honor the loss they had. I can't imagine they'd give that much away prior to a big announcement. I could be wrong though.

My bet is it's all for show so they're not changing anything.  After all, these people side hugged their own kids.

Catch me up on the Bradrick family? Are they the ones that had a daughter in law wear a yellow wedding dress?

Bradrick! and wife #1 Kelly were the darlings and the couple-of-the-year and marriage of the year  amonst the Vision Forum elite.

Kelly and Bradrick! proceeded to quickly have six children before the perfect marriage imploded and Kelly sued for divorce, based on...nobody knows for sure.  I

n the meantime,  Vision Forum had imploded because Doug Phillips was exposed as a sexual predator;  the Vision Forum gravy train left the station and left Bradrick! high and dry.  The young couple headed to the Pacific Northwest where Bradrick!'s family lives and Bradrick! became a realtor.  There's a classic photo of Kelly pregnant and maybe even barefoot, standing on the deck outside their mobile home on a damp day, surrounded by very young children. She looked so...over it.

Bradrick! stayed in the Pacific Northwest and Kelly and six kids flounced home to daddy Scottie Brown and then she married the current husband.
