Traveling with a Grown Kindergartner (Breakfast)

Now that I have made Boss 1 and Boss 2 laugh at my stories of eating with Boss 3 (they have both had the experience of traveling with this man) it is time to share it with you.

We all know that Boss 3 has an attachment to certain chain restaurants.  it borders on legendary.  We have not had a Chik-Fil-A here that long and the staff already knows him.  One coworker has vowed never to eat at Chik-fil-a without him.

We flew to Connecticut on Monday.  Tuesday breakfast at the hotel was an egg casserole.  It had hashbrowns mixed in.  It wasn't bad.  He didn't eat it, called it Quiche and had cereal.  He apparently missed the French Toast sticks and sausage.  He wanted just scrambled eggs and bacon.   He compares everything to Holiday Inn/Express.

Wednesday Morning the hotel had scrambled eggs but they had cheese in them.  I believe he might have been afraid of a wayward vegetable along the lines of an onion or pepper mixed in.  He didn't eat there that morning.  No.  he went down the road and claimed to be negotiating with the manager for a group hotel rate (this goes against our travel policy)  but wanted to check the breakfast out.   Translation - he scammed a free breakfast from Holiday Inn where we were not staying.

Thursday Morning - out hotel actually had scrambled eggs (plain) and bacon.  This was the only morning he was happy with breakfast.  Actually, it would be the only time he was happy with the hotel because, in his eyes, I'm guessing, it is all about breakfast.

Friday Morning they had scrambled eggs layered between layers of pastry and cheese on top.  I took one look at it and said to myself. "he's not going to like breakfast this morning.'  he didn't.  We had to stop by Dunkin Donuts so he could get a chocolate milk and donuts.  (And part of me really wants to say that he'd have been happier if the adult hotel breakfast at our hotel would have had bottles of Choco milk).

Saturday Morning breakfast was some odd (even by my standards) egg patty.  'Eggs whites' with 'Egg yolk' pressed into a shape to resembled a fried egg (which was not fried).  I grabbed one and a sausage patty and shoved them between bagel halves.  Again, I knew he'd not be thrilled with breakfast.  Nope.  he went to Holiday Inn - again - but it was 'picked over' so he again went to Dunkin Donuts.

Awesome story.  And you have my sympathy.  However, sometimes having a great story to share with co-workers makes it all worthwhile.....Sometimes.

This is awesome!  Granted I'd have just paid for a decent breakfast at Denny's myself, but my hat is off to his quest for a plain breakfast.

I love breakfast food more than any other, and since I don't eat breakfast more than once a week when I do I am not taking chances with anything unfamiliar or creative.

I know it sounds horrible for you and I feel guilty laughing.  I know it's horrible because I know how miserable I make people who travel with me...but I would so go to IHOP with this guy.

But not chik-fil-a - never chik-fil-a.

I found the whole thing amusing.  Mainly because this is someone who easily beats me in the picky eater category.

Oh man! This guy sounds so similar to my mom in law, she is horrid to eat with at a restaurant. She eats cheese, but not melted. She won't eat bread because it sticks to her mouth. Anytime we order she'll go through the menu items one by one and tell our server how yucky it all sounds. She doesn't eat lettuce, onions, mushrooms or anything seafood. Breakfast, don't get me started on that, lol.

Is this fella single? MIL needs somebody else to make miserable, her daughter in law refuses to go out to eat with her.

Boss is married.   One of my other bosses can predict what this guy will order in just about any restaurant - because he has specific chain places he likes to eat.  (which I can relate to).

You're kidding right about the going to the Holiday Inn to eat their Breakfast??!?

I had a boss (female) that would only go to lunch at Moe's and always ordered the exact same thing every time.  I hate that place now.

The most tense place I have ever been is a Holocaust Museum where several people were being disrespectful and a brawl broke out right next to me. This was maybe the 3rd HM we have visited. I told my husband that’s enough. No more of those. I know what happened and have seen enough.

I work at a library and I can tell you that no one behaves the way they used to, especially the kids. We are supposed to let them just be themselves, meanwhile sometimes it is a circus. I'm so glad I don't work in the public area anymore because it used to get me so angry. If you let them run around and do what they want, how are they going to behave elsewhere? And what will happen when they get older? How can they learn? Now, I'm not saying we need absolute silence but there are people who are trying to study and like the library as a quiet and peaceful place.

The worst case of this was at Anne Franks house 2 years ago. Everyone respectfully murmurs - same as in a library. A group of high school aged children were running through the rooms and watching stuff on mobile phones with the volume on. Not one teacher said anything. They were there!
A few visitors did have a word with them. Things didn’t improve though.

Whatever the results were for the recent scan...if it was showing the cancer shrinking to nothing, they'd be shouting the good news from the rooftops, right?

My recent experiences with MRI were that the results were read by the radiologist and posted in the patient portal within a day or two and I assume other scans would be equally speedy.

Shalom posted an Instragram story: "Microbiom[e] plays a role in healing from cancer"

@Columbia, thanks for digging up that account! I remember that depressing saga as if it had happened yesterday. IMO, Bradrick! has many, many miles to go before he's able to redeem himself.
