Quidditch cross stitch pillow - COMPLETE

I FINALLY learned to use a sewing machine and made the Quidditch cross stitch piece I made into a pillow. Well, I made two - one for a friend and one for me since I really liked the cross stitch design.

Stages of almost finished:

I learned to do a slip stitch (Or am learning as I see) to hide the stitches when closing the pillow.

I'm currently working on finishing the second one! The first one is all ready to be shipped to my friend! :) The pillows aren't as "perfect" as I wanted, but I'm happy with it. This project involved a lot of screw ups and undoing stitches.

I'm sew regretting (see what I did there) buying pillows instead of just using stuffing - that would have rehired less hand stitching

Finished the second pillow!! And realized I didn't finish the cross stitch part somehow. Fuuuuck. Any ideas on how to fix this without completely undoing things? I was so proud because I did a much better job with the slip stitch on the side on this one than the first one.image.jpeg

Oh boy! I wish we lived nearer to each other ...it would be so much easier to show you...okay....I see where the problem is. Do you have an issue with not using a hoop?

Instead of stabbing the needle down for a stitch, you're going to need to slide it diagonally to the next stitch hole without hopefully catching any of the filling and then reverse it to complete the stitch.  I'm not great at explaining it....better at showing how.

I don't have an issue with not using a hoop. I think I get what you mean (not entirely sure, I'll have to try) but I'm not sure how I'd secure the ends if I can't see the back.

I forgot that issue...you can try to slip it behind and underneath the stitches. I hope you don't have to undo the pillow!

I think I might have to undo stitches...I was playing with the last stitch I made and I have no idea how to tuck it back under the cloth. So if I finished it off I don't know how I'd tuck that underneath either.

@DaniLouisiana I ended up taking out the slip stitches that I used to close the pillow to finish the embroidery. NOW I'm done! I'm mailing my friend her pillow tomorrow...which will be another package for her to open since she's moving in with her sister to go to grad school and will have lots of boxes everywhere.

      I work at a library and I can tell you that no one behaves the way they used to, especially the kids. We are supposed to let them just be themselves, meanwhile sometimes it is a circus. I'm so glad I don't work in the public area anymore because it used to get me so angry. If you let them run around and do what they want, how are they going to behave elsewhere? And what will happen when they get older? How can they learn? Now, I'm not saying we need absolute silence but there are people who are trying to study and like the library as a quiet and peaceful place.

      Whatever the results were for the recent scan...if it was showing the cancer shrinking to nothing, they'd be shouting the good news from the rooftops, right? 

      My recent experiences with MRI were that the results were read by the radiologist and posted in the patient portal within a day or two and I assume other scans would be equally speedy. 

      Shalom posted an Instragram story: "Microbiom[e] plays a role in healing from cancer"

      @Columbia, thanks for digging up that account! I remember that depressing saga as if it had happened yesterday. IMO, Bradrick! has many, many miles to go before he's able to redeem himself.
