How I Let an Idiot Podcast Pastor Derail My Writing

Yesterday in a discussion here at FJ, I linked to something by Pastor Joe Schimmel.  I know I've talked about him before regarding a different movie.  Someone at that time suggested a thread.  I thought I'd blog about things first.  Depending on reactions, I might start a thread.  If you enjoy fundie rabbit holes of the angry, judgemental pastor variety - take the rescue ferrets and head on in.

I not only listened to this guy - I went back and listened to his podcast history. (Podcast/radio here:  http://www.goodfightradio.org/ )   He is very focused on 'gay agendas.'  Very focused on satanic worship, demons, and can trace all sorts of new age stuff in his warped mind to Aleister Crowley.  But I let him get in my head.  I was trying to be the good Christian.  I was, admittedly, on a path to fundie light.  A few years ago I tossed 'religion' to the side.  I've elevated past narrow-minded, legalistic thinking.

Joe is very big into seeing the "Gay Agenda" everywhere. (a sample of his entries on homosexuality:  http://cupofjoe.goodfight.org/tag/homosexuality/ )  And Satan.  And demons.  ( sample of his bits about the occult and such:  http://cupofjoe.goodfight.org/category/cults-occult/  )  He has videos out there about 'They Sold Their Souls to Rock and Roll.'  and "Hollywood's War on God."  http://cupofjoe.goodfight.org/video/ (more videos at the link)

This morning I went looking for a quote from him about Stephanie Meyer, author of the Twilight books.  And yup - I found what I was looking f

Quote

Stephenie Meyer, author of Twilight, states, “Bella and Edward [the vampire] were, quite literally, voices in my head. They simply wouldn’t shut up. I’d stay up as late as I could stand trying to get all the stuff in my mind typed out, and then crawl, exhausted, into bed… only to have another conversation start in my head.” (Source: www.stepheniemeyer.com)

Those who desire to remain true to Christ must be ever vigilant to discern the tactics of the devil, lest they succumb to devilish doctrines taught by seducing spirits. While Satan appears to reward few of his servants well (albeit, temporarily)… Stephenie Meyer went from never having written a single book to becoming a renown author. J. K. Rowling went from rags to riches, from collecting welfare stamps to becoming the “richest woman in the world”… Jesus warned,

e/influence (one I have happily thrown off) was his discussing authors - fiction authors - who 'channel' and 'hear voices.'  Yes, channeling is a word I have used in the past when working with a character.  I write fiction as a hobby.  I lack words to describe my relationship with first person point of view characters in particular in talking to non-writing types of people.

Sorry - had to enter to be able to do what I wanted to there.

Joe has his material spread across a few websites.  Don't miss this one https://www.goodfight.org/  He has videos on this one discussing Hollywood Movies.  Click on the "theater" button to explore that one.

Noooo, it's me, I'm responsible! :pb_lol:

I need to check out the "They sold their souls to rock and roll..." I'm predicting something about backbeats in there.

The most tense place I have ever been is a Holocaust Museum where several people were being disrespectful and a brawl broke out right next to me. This was maybe the 3rd HM we have visited. I told my husband that’s enough. No more of those. I know what happened and have seen enough.

I work at a library and I can tell you that no one behaves the way they used to, especially the kids. We are supposed to let them just be themselves, meanwhile sometimes it is a circus. I'm so glad I don't work in the public area anymore because it used to get me so angry. If you let them run around and do what they want, how are they going to behave elsewhere? And what will happen when they get older? How can they learn? Now, I'm not saying we need absolute silence but there are people who are trying to study and like the library as a quiet and peaceful place.

The worst case of this was at Anne Franks house 2 years ago. Everyone respectfully murmurs - same as in a library. A group of high school aged children were running through the rooms and watching stuff on mobile phones with the volume on. Not one teacher said anything. They were there!
A few visitors did have a word with them. Things didn’t improve though.

Whatever the results were for the recent scan...if it was showing the cancer shrinking to nothing, they'd be shouting the good news from the rooftops, right?

My recent experiences with MRI were that the results were read by the radiologist and posted in the patient portal within a day or two and I assume other scans would be equally speedy.

Shalom posted an Instragram story: "Microbiom[e] plays a role in healing from cancer"

@Columbia, thanks for digging up that account! I remember that depressing saga as if it had happened yesterday. IMO, Bradrick! has many, many miles to go before he's able to redeem himself.
