I am just going to jump right in to the pencils today.

Koh-I-Noor Tri-Tone Pencil Set, Multi-Color, Set of 24

These are another favorite of mine.  Each pencil is 3 colors and they blend together in different ways every time you use them.  They are by the same company that makes the woodless pencils that are my favorite.   They hold up very well and color very smoothly.   They come in a very nice case, which is what I use to carry pencils in when I go out.  They also come with a blender pencil so you can blend the colors even further after laying them down, if you want to.  They are a bit more expensive than regular colored pencils, but if you feel like splurging, I definitely recommend these.

RoseArt Rainbow Swirl Jumbo Colored Pencils, 5-Count, Packaging May Vary (CYN12)

These are similar to the ones above.  I like them, but they have 2 downsides, IMO.  First they are fat, so you have to have a pencil sharpener that can take a variety of pencil sizes.  Fortunately, my husband has one of those old kind of sharpeners that you used in school that have the various size holes you can twist into place to sharpen a number of different sizes.   Second, since they are fat, it's hard to use them on anything small/intricate.   I do like them, but I probably won't get them again when these are gone.

Crayola Extreme Colors Pencils, Set of 8 (CYO681120)

I was really excited about these pencil.   I got them at the same time I got the metallic ones, which I love, so I figured these would be great as well.   Sadly, I am somewhat disappointed in them and probably won't replace them when these are sharpened all the way down.   The colors are pretty, but they are very light.   I have to apply a fair amount of pressure to get a nice color.  If I want the color to be darkish, I have to apply so much pressure it's almost painful for my hand.  As a result, I use them for mostly small areas.

Crayola 50ct Long Colored Pencils (68-4050)

These are just your basic colored pencil.  They don't have the colors named on them, but they do lay down color pretty smoothly, but if you are just getting a basic set, I would go for the comparable RoseArt or Sergeant ones instead.

36 Colored Pencils Non-Toxic in Reusable Plastic Case w/Button Closure

I found these on sale at A.C. Moore, so grabbed them mainly for the different yellows, browns and metallics.   They are quite nice and I will replace them when they are gone.  They lay down color very nicely and you can really get shade variations by using more or less pressure.   Downside, they don't have the names on the colors.

Sargent Art 22-7236 36-Count Assorted Colored Pencils

I picked these up at A.C. Moore the same day I got the ones above.  They were the same price and are pretty comparable.  One thing they have over the Nicole brand is that they do list the name of the color on the pencil.

A couple bonus items:

Derwent Blender and Burnisher Pencil Set (2301774)

After discovering the joy of the blender pencil with the Tri-Color pencils, I got this set of blender/burnishers.   They really allow you to add some nuance to your work and I use them to smooth out plain colors if I've colored a large area or something looks kind of "choppy."

Twist-n-Sharp Pencil Sharpener, Assorted Colors, Sold as 1 Each

This is the pencil sharpener I ended up getting because I was tired of using the kind that don't catch the shavings.  It has settings for either a sharp or blunt point, which I like.  It's easy to empty and it works well when sharpening.   It has a ratchet type system so you just turn your wrist back and forth to sharpen.

So that's the end of the colored pencils that I have.  Next I will cover coloring books, unless people would rather talk makers, gel pens and felt tip pens.  Let me know if the comments and I'll do whatever most people want first.
