Blessed Beyond Measure

It was the morning after their wedding, and Danny-Joe and Melissa were ready to move into their new home.

They weren't sure they had the hang of this kissing thing yet, but they were determined to get as much practice as possible...

First things first... sweet, sweet fellowship.

Melissa was excited to take a pregnancy test, but with only $4 in their bank account, she knew they couldn't afford it yet. Danny-Joe realized he needed to start providing, and went out in search of collectibles behind his neighbor's property.

With the income from Danny-Joe's collecting, Melissa could finally afford a pregnancy test.

It was positive! Off she went to share the joyous news with her sweet husband...

He was overjoyed! Melissa was starting to feel nauseated, though, so she headed home. Danny-Joe decided to try his hand at fishing to see if he could provide for his family that way...

Impatient with the fish, he decided to look for rare frogs instead...

And then he was tempted by another dig site...

Bonanza! Danny-Joe couldn't believe those secular fools who got "jobs" when there were such riches for the taking in the natural world.

Meanwhile, back at home, Melissa tested her cooking skills by preparing Danny-Joe's favorite meal -- grilled cheese.

She practiced gazing at him with adoration while he talked...

They set aside an hour for Bible Time...

They slept soundly, dreaming of God's kingdom.

The days passed in a blur. Melissa burned breakfast...

She realized with horror that her water had broken at the dinner table...

5643d652addb9_11-11-15_41834PM.thumb.png

Danny-Joe wasn't sure what to expect as labor progressed...

Social Services provided a bassinet...

The miracle of life!

But one bassinet wasn't enough, because Danny-Joe and Melissa had been blessed beyond measure with twins!

They named their tiny future Christian soldiers Aaron and Abel. Danny-Joe hadn't made enough money to furnish a nursery yet, but the children could stay in the living room for now.

-Hilarious-! Now I really want to dust off my Sims game and give this a go (but I know it would be a huge time sink that I can't afford right now).

Thanks @EyeQueue :D Time sink it is, but I figured that having to document things would slow me down... trying not to binge.

Love it! Is this Sims 3?

Nope! This is 4. I miss some things about 3 (mostly toddlers and the towns/townies) but 4 plays so much better on Mac that I've stuck with it.

I haven't played the Sims in forever. I've only ever played 1 and 2. I am old. Ha!

My sims ran out of beds and one was sleeping outside and almost froze to death. I'm a mess.

Uh oh! How big is your household so far?

You must be running 3 with Seasons. I miss the bunk beds and sleeping bags from Generations :(

Yes I have 3 with all the expansions. I can't afford 4 and I would probably miss not having a "fully loaded" game. I'm up to 9 kids so far.

I have (and love) 3, but it runs so erratically on my Mac that I uninstalled it when 4 ran so well. I reinstalled just the base game and tried 3 again, but still a pain. But I miss toddlers so much :( And Twallan's mods.

Danny-Joe and Melissa had their 3rd and she's pregnant with their 4th now. I think I'll probably cave and mod eventually so that I can have a bigger household.

3 is quite brutal but since I can't afford 4 I play it anyway. I also still have 2 so I have some options.

I was kind of surprised that Michelle wasn’t there. Not that I wanted to see her but she’s local and that is her daughter.

Also pleasantly surprised by the non-mention of modesty, meaning the Duggar’s standards, not mainstream society.  The first one had a tank top bodice with some see-through lace at the waist part so I thought that one may get a comment. I was also a little surpised at the one halter top one.  It was very fitted. But she did look great in every one. Glad she found one she wanted. Good for her for marching to her own best, even if it’s tiny steps.

Grrr.... I waited all week for a new video from Jana and it was a stupid venue/dress video and not a fixer-upper video.  How disappointing!

I found it interesting the JB and Michelle were not along to look at the venue, or that Michelle didn't go dress shopping.  This, combined with the tiny house, pants-wearing, college, etc. make me think Jana has possibly distanced herself from her parents quite a bit more than we may have expected and was really living life somewhat independently.

Anyway, Jana teases they will be back soon with more house updates.  She better deliver and not give us a video of wedding cake taste testing next. ;)

Really worrrisome that Shalom has not posted any updates.  Maybe she's just overwhelmed with their housing situation; I truly, sincerely hope there hasn't been a health crisis.

I watched Jana’s new video. Annoyingly, I had to finish baking before reporting back to y’all. First they visit the wedding venue, which only opened in January. It really is gorgeous. There’s a long, tree-lined driveway before the impressive exterior. Inside, they see the groom’s suite and then the bride’s suite. Both are huge and decorated very nicely. The bridal suite has a line of beauty shop chairs in front of individual mirrors for the bridesmaids, and big changing rooms. Jessa (with George), Abbie, and Joy are with Jana. Everyone oohs and ahhhs. They see the area for ceremonies, which is huge and vaguely cathedral-like, with big windows that flood it with natural light. Jana announces that this is it; they won’t visit any other potential venues.

The bridesmaids tell Jana (who explained this in a later shot) that they’re together and have time, so they need to go wedding dress shopping. (Presumably Michelle and Mrs. Wissmann are over it by now.) So it’s off to the bridal shop, where Jana piles up seven dresses in five minutes, according to Joy. The one she chooses is exactly like the “inspiration” dress photo she brought (which she shows us after selecting the dress). There’s no mention of whatever event led to her having a gown altered the day before her wedding.
