Pete Buttigieg

I like Rachel and her show, but when she asked him outright if he was on the VP shortlist, I was sitting here laughing and saying “Oh, no. He’s not gonna answer that.”. I really enjoyed watching him deflect and give the perfect non-answer. He’s got skills.

One of the things I loved about the Daily Show interview was watching John Stewart looking at Buttigieg with clear admiration not just for his serious qualities, but as someone who can be funny.

I didn't think about this until I read Pete's quote, but to me this shows another layer of brilliance. I definitely see the wisdom of picking someone from a swing state, one that is hoped to bring not only their swing state but other swing States into the fold. However I think Walz it's an awesome counterbalance because he is the governor of a midwest state, even though it is considered a more liberal midwest state, and that shows a counterbalance for what I figured the Trump campaign would start screaming even louder that Kamala is just a coastal liberal and she doesn't understand middle america. If I remember the article I read correctly, Walz grew up and taught in Nebraska which is definitely known as being conservative and eventually he and his wife went to his wife's home state of Minnesota which is still not as liberal as the coastal areas. I say this living in a coastal state. Walz is middle America. Walz Todd in Nebraska which of memory serves me correctly while not one of the lowest States for teachers' salary definitely didn't overpay his salary, so he knows what it's like to be working extremely hard many many hours and never feeling like you're getting ahead like many other Americans.

Ah, Pete - you are the best. And TIL that, like me,  Pete is not a morning person.

I know Pete deserves a high place in politics and likely will be president someday (I hope) but man he would be an amazing Press Secretary, wouldn't he? He needs to be THE voice of the Democratic Party, I think. He's just so good at getting his message across, avoiding being goaded, and stating the truth.
