What's her name? Does she have social media? I gotta see more of this.

Her name is Cara Keilen but her FB is locked down. Buts she’s had those bangs for years. It’s not just some fluke bad haircut she will grow out in 4 months.

I’m regretting bringing up the topic of Brandon and Michael’s YouTube video. I didn’t realize it would result in dragging Brandon’s sister’s hairstyle.

This isn’t the first nor last time hair is talked about in a negative light on FJ. Gwen Shamblin, Jill Rod, Michelle Duggar, Mrs. Keilen, some of the Rod Daughters, and all the home perms amongst fundies have been talked about since the inception of fundie snark. Luckily hair can be changed. Much easier than their hateful beliefs.

I was under the impression that there was a line drawn between snarking on public fundies and those who just happened to be fundie adjacent. Brandon’s sister doesn’t even have public social media.

No, I don’t believe that’s a rule. If so, it isn’t usually followed.

If we had that as a rule, we'd have shut down the Remnant threads at inception.

The Rules.

I personally tend to think discussion of incidental players should not be emphasized, but we talked about David Waller's sister's death and a sibling's marriage for instance.  Discussing a hairstyle that is a choice is not body shaming as it's something the person can at least to a degree control.

I didn’t think I was citing a rule. It was more of an observation about how the comments usually seem to go. Fundie adjacents are discussed, but it doesn’t usually seem like they’re snarked on. Snarking on hairstyles of people quietly living their lives seems like mean girl stuff that’s below most people here. I was hoping my opinion would give some people pause before there were more comments.

I am about to undergo my 5th embryo transfer. I also did an egg retrieval, which definitely does require hormones (although there is a protocol to do a single natural cycle egg retrieval without any hormones), but an embryo transfer often does not. It is not always required to use birth control or lupron. I have never taken either one, for my retrieval or transfers.

Many clinics do medicated transfer cycles (mostly involving progesterone) in order to control the timing and make it more convenient for themselves. I have always requested to do natural cycles, which involves monitoring (a transvaginal ultrasound for a few days - no meds), to make sure they know when you ovulate. 5 days after ovulation I go in to have the embryo inserted and then go home and wait to see if it takes.

We don’t know Michael’s entire health history, but I just think there’s a likelihood that there is possible moral opposition to IVF in addition to her medical issues (which could potentially be worked around, at least for an embryo transfer). The recent SBC convention news just made me think about it more and guess that Michael is probably opposed to IVF in general. I was also intrigued by the SBC embryo adoption encouragement and wondered about her views on that.

I work in a healthcare field, my spouse is a physician, and IVF/reproductive health (along with fundies) also just happens to be a special interest of mine, even before I had to go through it myself.

We obviously went through different clinics; the one I went through, HRC Fertility, absolutely required all of the injections and multiple transvaginal ultrasounds. I was told that if I was even slightly late with an injection, I could miscarry. Different clinics, different policies I guess. I also live in a different country which meant I had to fly on a specific date and the date was assigned based on availability of the lab.

They attend an IFB church which tends to follow Southern Baptist logic but takes it up a notch or two. I can't think of many examples where IFB is less strict than Southern Baptist.

Actually it doesn't. I was both IFB and SBC - and my uncle worked for the SBC and various state conventions for decades.  I am very familiar with both.

She is also not a public fundie. As you yourself said, her stuff is locked down.

Actually, it is not a rule but a very long standing custom. I can make it a rule if you want to argue about it. It's fine to discuss what you can see but there is no reason to slam someone who is not putting themselves out there. And to be fair, not all of Brandon's siblings are as extreme as he is. And you have no real clue about his sister and how she feels about anything.

I mean, those bangs a VERY trendy in hyper edgy hip urban environments (think Berlin). Soooooooo while I hate them with a passion (thanks to mum who thought she of course could cut my fringe herself - seems to be a shared „trauma“/right of passage in my age bracket) I think lots of young women around 20-25 wear them completely on purpose as a fashion statement. We don’t know much about his sister- maybe just maybe there is some hope…..(not really but it would be nice).

I actually think that Michael would be open to IVF but Brandon wasn’t. At least that was my impression from the scenes in the show. There were some remarks I think where she me mentioned further testing and options and he said something about leaving it for now and letting God do whatever he feels right. I can absolutely see her taking in his point of view and rationalising it with possible health risks. Of course that could be way off, but that’s the explanation that is somehow pretty forefront on my mind.

The most recent YouTube they did answering questions about fertility said that they fertility specialist doctor they had a massive long waitlist for and finally saw, said that she was not eligible for IVF due to her clotting disorders. The specialists will not even consider it. It is not an option for them.

Reading between the lines, I think that the issue with IVF might be due to egg retrieval. The medication used to prepare for the retrieval is known to cause hormonal changes. Combined with the retrieval procedure itself, a person without a clotting disorder has a higher (not overly high) risk of developing a blood clot. Given that Michaela has one or more clotting factors as an issue, her risk level could be significantly higher to the point a doctor would not want to risk it.

I've noticed that too how it's all towards the siblings but not the kids or Rj unless it came from someone on the Keilens side then it was to him and the kids

I know I’m late to the party but someone sent me some of the posts here regarding Heather. I know this situation inside and out and would love to fill you all in on the truth regarding Heather, RJ, the kids, the Dauers and the Keilens. I created an account in order to be able to reply; I hope I did so correctly?

You can say anything you'd like to, as long as it fits within the rules, but since we've had a lot of posters claiming to be insiders in the past people will likely not believe you unless you get privately verified by the mods.  It's not personal, just experience has taught us people will make things up and it's not really fair to believe potential lies even if we don't agree with the believes/practices the familes we discuss espouse.

But welcome!  I hope you'll find us a reasonable bunch, more or less.
