You guys are acting like I said she murders kittens. The woman likes to buy new clothes. So do I!! It’s not a crime that she has a massive wardrobe. I mean, sure it’s excessive and a waste of money, but that’s the monarchy in general.

I think Kate has to have a massive wardrobe, and I would also love buying those extravagant gowns she wears to special occasions!    I wonder how many rooms Anne devotes to her wardrobes from the decades, and how she decides to wear them; I love watching that.

She and her mother have also been known to wear each other's clothes.

Knowing how they rewear and save clothes I would not be surprised if she is seen in Lady Louise’s hand me downs in the next few years.

I hope not…nothing wrong with Louise’s style if that’s what she likes, it’s just looks somewhere between “meh” and “matronly” to me. I’m kind of hoping as she gets older and gets to have more of an opinion on her wardrobe Charlotte would go more in the direction of Princesses Leonor and Sofia of Spain. They always looked classy and up-to-date, while still age appropriate.

If you want to know how a Royal tween or teen girl is going to develop  her personal style look at her mother. It really doesn’t seem to deviate that much and  in fact The trend right now is wearing Mothers  clothing shoes included.

I wasn't going to be the first to mention her weight loss here, but now that you have, I took note of how painfully thin her arms look even in the long sleeves. And when she stepped out of the carriage, you could see from the side that, even for a woman whose slimness is legendary, she seems almost about to disappear. As good as she looked in general yesterday--and she really did look spectacular!-- this is clearly a person who is still quite ill. 😢

I noticed that too. She also looks tired. Neither are surprising for someone with cancer.

You guys can’t convince me on this, sorry. Kate has probably over a hundred blue dress jackets. The woman likes to buy clothes.

it's quite possible she does

but even if she hates it there's got to be an army of stylists and assistants who could shop for her

I consider putting on new clothing a displacement activity for anyone who is constantly looked at.

I usually only have 30 pairs of eyes looking at me for about 90 minutes, then the next 30 and they aren‘t even allowed to take photos. Wearing something new makes me feel more confident. Like putting on armour. It‘s ridiculous but it helps. So that might be it. The feeling of at least looking flawless when you know you aren‘t flawless and everybody is looking for flaws.

Or Kate just really does like shopping. 😊

To be fair, my 12 year old daughter is also stealing my shoes. She’s very excited we wear the same size right now.

It's a Jenny Packham dress. The belt was changed and the bow was added.

If you look at the previous photos of her wearing it, you can tell she's lost weight as well. A note for the dregs of society elsewhere online who didn't feel she looked sick enough to satisfy them.

I also wonder if her shoes aren't half an inch to an inch shorter than usual (Heel wise)?!  It looks like her shoes aren't as towering as usual.

She also had on more makeup than usual especially highlighter.  None of these things are surprising as one would expect some adaptations.

I have to admire Princess Anneʻs IDGAF approach to her public wardrobe - as seen at Royal Ascot:

Anne is definitely a huge jewel in the BRF crown.

I like it. I assume the hat matches parts of the flowers and stuff. It's hard to tell in a picture as colors can appear different.

You may be right. The photo in the Daily Fail seems to be a better rendering of the colors and shows the matching shell or blouse at her neckline.

Anne makes a lot of questionable fashion choices but this coat was one of her better ones if you ask me.
Kate will naturally have a bigger wardrobe than most people. No one reasonable would argue otherwise. But there are plenty of options for re-wears. Especially as they bring in positive PR every time. But there are occasions for something new and also for one time wear. Doesn’t negate the fact that she LOVES to shop. It’s not murdering kitten level but it’s not as if she is making lots of purchases to put on again over the decades. That’s the woman that has three maternity wardrobes. She could wear a different outfit every day for at least three years without buying anything new and wouldn’t repeat herself. She can get stuff altered and we see her sometimes repeating things from the past and they often still fit great. Many are also classic cuts that still would work absolutely fine. It’s not as if she has gone up several sizes. At least now, her husband foots the bill (most of the time).

It was lovely to see her doing so well, even if you could tell she was tense and looked strained (not in the carriage but in the car beforehand it was really obvious). I think she wouldn’t have shown up if she didn’t think she could handle it and was well enough. They are not the ones to give into public pressure (for better for worse).
re the children’s clothes- we saw birthday pictures of George where he was wearing a footie jersey and a regular cotton t shirt. That was one of the few times where it felt as if we really saw the child instead of the future king. I doubt we will see Charlotte expressing herself fashion wise at occasions like this in the foreseeable future. It’s not necessarily the right setting to do so to be honest. They are at work. And I believe dressing a certain way helps them to get into the role and stay there for the duration of the event. If they are allowed to dress like they want in private they probably won’t “rebell” against that.

Quote

Pearson wrote, “Two words: Thank you. Thank you Princess of Wales for being an absolute trouper and attending Trooping the Colour on a cold, grey day when lesser mortals with your illness would have stayed home, tucked up in their jim-jams."

I am loving the backlash this author is receiving. The absolute audacity to slam cancer patients for staying home while receiving treatment is a wild take. Kate is fortunate that she can (so far) take six months off work without any issues regarding work, financial security, childcare, etc. Yes, it's great that Kate was feeling well enough to attend, but this article is just such a slap in the face to the rest of the world's cancer patients that don't have the privilege Kate does.

What a pile of priviledged drivel. Reading that, I'm sure that the author never had serious health issues that put her life on hold or change it forever. I'm happy for Kate that she felt good enough to attend, but Trooping the color is one of the biggest events in the royal calender. I would compare that with an average citizen with cancer or another serious and lifechanging illness gathering enough strength to attent the wedding of a close relative or dear friend to celebrate with them. And than paying for that in the days and weeks after with more pain or fatigue. And it is possible that Kate felt the same after that. But I don't think that the author isn't able to emphasize something like that. Or she's one of that persons that tell a sick and fatigued single mother that when someone like Kate can attend a public function while undergoing cancer threatment, she should shut up and try harder. I hate such people.
And sadly, I can't read the comments, because the article is behind a paywall and I use a site to bypass paywalls, but they can't show the comments. But good on any backlash she is getting, that's well deserved.

Crawfie? Is that you? I swear that read exactly like Marian Crawford's gushiest moments in The Little Princesses. 🙄

Fun little dig at Meghan and her two jars of jam, though. 😆

I would like to read that article, but is that news site worth $25.00/month?

the article via wayback machine. I know that serious news outlets need money, but I can't pay subscriptions for dozens of newsites around the world for articles that seem interesting. I would recommend saving web.archive.org in bookmarks and when you hit a paywall to copy the link and look if they have it already saved. Should posting such tips and links be against the rules, I apologize in advance.

What did I just read?? It's like parody of a 1950's housewife. I'm glad to hear she's getting pushback. What a creepy, inappropriate #inspoporn post devoid of reality. I second whoever said Kate probably mustered the energy for the day while needing several days or even weeks to recover from. That article was drivel along the lines of a JillRod ode.

I absolutely loathe Allison Pearson. Read her book ("I don't know how she does it") when it came out in ~2002 and hated it, to the point of throwing it across the room at one stage because I was so pissed off at it. Literally nothing I have read of hers since (mostly opinion pieces, was never reading another book by her) has changed my opinion of her as an over-privileged, entitled, and obliviously out of touch arse-kisser and social climber with ridiculously 1950s conservative attitudes to gender and society. I'm very glad she is getting a lot of vitriol from a wide range of people.

(I know, tell us what you really think...)

Boy, that person wants somebody to notice her;  maybe introduce her to Meghan and they can notice each other?

And thank you for the link.
