I had my daughter in January 2021, so right after the covid vaccine came out for healthcare workers but not generally available.  No one was allowed to visit us in the hospital and if my husband had left, he couldn't have returned.  It was amazingly peaceful for us to bond with her.  I hope she enjoys all the fuss and hubub, I know some do, since it seems like quiet is probably not an option.

Tiffany LOOOOOVES attention. And complainining. And pretending (?) to be stupid. That's her entire personality, sadly.

I don’t think I’ve ever complemented a single person by saying, “you never complain.”

Same! And I would hate it if someone told me that because then I would feel like I could never complain which isn’t really healthy.

I think Tiffany has a lot of favorites. Favorite sister-in-law by marriage: Esther. Favorite sister-in-law: Callie. Favorite nephew: Carson. Favorite niece: Kenna. She doesn’t see to hide these labels. So  Tiffany probably thought it would be a real treat for Callie to be included to be in Tiffany’s  orbit for the birth.

As someone who was not raised with my biological family (but did know of them).
It was surreal for me to hold my child for the first time for all the obvious reasons, but for one that she was my first solid and mine, forever biological link.

The first time in my life I could look to someone and look for myself, my mannerisms, my traits

My Daughter is 8 and she only has me (donor conceived) and I wonder if she will feel the loss (like I did) of not "matching" my family. One thing she does have going is that she is very similar to me personality wise and people say she looks like me (I can't see it). So that may help but I am aware it may not be enough.

What I am getting long winded too is for Tiff, who, as far as we know has never had or known a bio connection, I wonder how this is hitting her.

I hope it is as overwhelmingly beautiful, soothing and even a bit scary and confronting for her as it was for me. Man new Mums have a tidal wave of emotions already but I can relate to Tiff so much if this is one that hits her too.

As someone who lacked a bio reference in my life and it left a hole, My babe helped heal it somewhat. I hope if that is something Tiff has struggled with, I hope she has some peace now.

I don't want to offend anyone or diminish anyone's pain--but what is the basis for Lawson and Tiffany calling him a "miracle baby" other than the fact that Tiffany had one previous miscarriage a few months before getting pregnant again?  Did she have to take extra medical steps to get pregnant/stay pregnant? Maybe she has some medical conditions I don't know about?

I get the impression they were trying for awhile before she got pregnant.

I didn’t think much about the word miracle. I took it in the generic Christian sense that all babies are miracles, Tiffany got pregnant again very soon after her miscarriage unless their timelines are so distorted that it just appeared that way. So maybe they were trying to get pregnant for a year or so and then were  able to get real fertility treatment that worked and she was finally able to get pregnant. But that’s god performing a miracle, not medical science. To my knowledge, Tiffany never shared any fertility struggles besides her miscarriage.

Interesting. I think all babies are miracles, but to me "miracle baby" tends to connote a significant struggle (e.g. micro premiee, pregnancy complications, pregnancy that shouldn't have happened). So, I guess, did they actually use the words "miracle baby"?

They implied fertility struggles, but never came out and said it. But Tiffany said in the miscarriage video that every other test has been negative and something about doing this “every month” and we know that she took a test in October of 2022 before Kenna was born. I do believe that they were trying for a solid year (also why Michaela had become a confident).

I think it is also why Erin’s kids were praying for them to have a baby in that video (which was a few months before Tiffany’s miscarriage), because by that point it had been almost a year and it was clear it wasn’t happening.

Is it still the common protocol to wait 12 months to see a fertility specialist if you are young like Tiffany? And so they still put women on drugs to stimulate ovulation? I know things have probably changed since I was more in tune with these things. I didn’t go through any fertility treatment personally.

Tiff called the baby “our little miracle” in the photo caption above. Now if Michael had a baby, that would be a miracle since doctors have told her that it was most likely not going to happen.

I think it depends on factors. I know some friends were put in “limbo” after 6 months where the odds of conceiving went down but they couldn’t see a fertility specialist yet and were just waiting for the one year mark to get in to see them (many set up their appointments during that time in limbo). If she started trying for a baby when they got married and found out she was pregnant with Hope in September of 2023, that is more than a year.

I had three miscarriages before I had my oldest, two back-to-back in the months before I conceived him (I was pregnant for the better part of 13 months) and I definitely thought of him as my miracle.

Per Lawson in the chat for his video, William was 7 lb. 2 oz., 19".

Next portion of the birth story is up. The immediate aftermath of the birth. Baby is cleaned up and weighed. Baby does skin to skin with Tiffany, then with bare chested Lawson. Lawson attempts to swaddle the baby. Baby cries through most of this video, calms down once he’s swaddled.

Tiffany is quiet through most of this video, other than thanking the nurses multiple times. Lawson, on the other hand, doesn’t shut up, making a lot of silly comments attributing thoughts to the baby. I’ll give him a pass on those, since he’s a new father. He’s clearly euphoric but has no idea what he’s in for. However, I hope at some point he stopped filming, shut up, and allowed the three of them to experience their new family without thinking of social media.

We end with them being transferred out of the birthing room and preparing to meet the grandparents. Lawson says there are some other special guests. I hope that means the entire Bates family hasn’t descended on them. Stay tuned for part 3.

I always marvel at how big newborns can be, relatively speaking. My mom was 5'3, 120 lbs; I was 21 inches (a third of her height!) and 8 lb 2 oz.

Nathan and Esther seemed to have been very briefly in Tennessee last week, per their social media, so I think that they must have flown in just to meet the baby, which makes sense given how close Nathan and Lawson are.  Tiffany’s brother also flew in.

What a snoozefest. Glad I didn't stick around and waste my time. There were 5k people waiting when I popped in.

Per Esther, it appears they are calling him Will. So Bill, Gil, Lawson and Will.

Based on KJ and Tiffany’s instagrams it seems like Michaela, Brandon, Esther and Nathan visited in the hospital (plus those who were there for labour) and we know that Zach/Whitney (and just Brad), Trade/Lydia, Warden, Isaiah, Jeb and Judson were all there for Lawson’s birthday. Katie is in Nashville now.

Yes, it was a real bore. Only worthwhile for seeing the baby. To top it off, Lawson sang.

Yes. It is typical for someone under 35 to wait 12 months. Over 35 then 6 months. And drugs are common for ovulation.

Do we know who filmed the birth? It wasn't Lawson.

Many years ago, a child protection charity here in England ran a campaign that basically said (paraphrasing) ‘Miles is a quiet baby, he knows nobody will come if he cries; Tom doesn’t talk to his parents - he’s afraid his abuser will come and get him…etc’

An extreme example, but there is something sinister about not complaining. I don’t mean whingeing and moaning for the sake of it, but not complaining means things don’t improve and encouraging silence as a virtue is highly dangerous.
