Is it possible to change surnames in US? It's impossible in my country. We have 2 surnames (one from mom, one from dad), it's possible to change its order, but not to "invent" a surname. I assumed that Stardust was only used in social networks, but legally they are still Jeub. But US is far more flexible in naming than Spain, so maybe Stardust is their legal surname now.

Artemis is a nice name IMO. Some ancient Greek names have no gender I know some men and women called Ares (who in mythology was a male). So probably Artemis is the same.

With rare exceptions, the US doesn't have naming laws. Yes, anything someone wants, no matter how stupid (looking at you, Elon) is acceptable.

Health insurance (company, etc.) can change by area lived in... for Medicaid (the exPOS had it, and disability (ssdi)

I must be missing something.  That really wouldn't change their income, would it?  Medicaid is free to have if one is on SSI which is what I thought the partner was on.  Memory could have failed there.  Medicare is the same charge since it's federal although someone could change Medicare Advantage plans if applicable and there is a high income increase which is definitely not involved here.

This might be a stupid question but why are accents, umlauts etc forbidden? I don’t understand why Chloé or Aïsha would be banned. Both of these are totally normal names where I live and I have taught several kids with these names.

Honestly? Probably racism.

Could one of them be on Medicaid and not Medicare? Because Medicaid would be state run and then tied to different payment levels depending on state I believe.

Absolutely one could be on Medicaid and not Medicare.  It's the most likely scenario.  Medicaid has a federal basis in that the disability criteria and income and resource eligibility are standardized.  There is also a federal coverage schedule.  Some states may choose to expand Medicaid coverage.  Medicaid does not pay an income though.  That is SSI and states may supplement the federal amount if they choose.  It's possible they are receiving some in-kind support (rent discount, family providing meals or groceries are possible examples) that could reduce their monthly payment.  However, the expenses would also be reduced. It's also possible we are being spun a story similar to we need money to get new IDs when we get there.  They received the money and spent it on the "vacation" apparently.  Now they need ID money again.

I'm feeling a bit jaundiced about grifters.  Yesterday due to an Amazon return, I drove through an area I usually avoid.  For years it has had professional beggars.  There's bound to be a word for that, but I can't find it.  They are dropped off in the morning and picked up in the afternoon.  I don't know how much of the day's collection they keep or if they are simply paid a straight salary.  Over the years the people in charge have changed who they put out at the intersections to better fit the changing demographics of the neighborhood and the societal appeal at the time.  They've moved on to a new group since I was last there.  Changing people or changing stories, it's all so similar.

I think Zach and Whit Bates have a Khloé.

But was the accent allowed on her birth certificate?

I do not understand how Artemis made it to the age of 32 without understanding that you need to have a little money in your bank account for unexpected expenditures.  So Art needs $22 to cover internet and added in the cost for state ids to it since they apparently spent all the move money on other things.  Artemis really needs to learn how to budget instead of relying on strangers to support them.

Probably because their parents didn't spend money wisely and they were raised to believe grifting for a living is acceptable.

I think it has to do with database/records.  Like my middle name as a hyphen but in some states it doesn't. I also have 27 letters in my name, and I watched the lady count them to make sure it was less than 30, because apparently if it was over 30 in that state, it wouldn't be an "official" name and I'd have problems.  I still have problems TBH because IDs and forms often cap length and don't allow specific characters.

Some older databases just won't accept characters and accent marks. And lots of people don't know how to look up and use alt codes.

I don't know how they don't realize that you don't need to get a new ID the day you move. You can still apply for SNAP etch with your out of state ID. You just have to bring a piece of mail with your name and address with you. Same with library cards. Not that they will use the Library, it involves leaving the house.

I found three addresses for them in Seattle. If it's the one downtown/near Belltown/city center, i can see why they had money problems if they refused to walk up hills or use public transportation to get groceries. However, it also boggles my mind as to why they wouldn't walk to the aquarium or take advantage of the massive amount of free things that are always happening.

I was a poll watcher here in Colorado a couple of years ago. As part of the training, I found that there are over twenty forms of ID that are accepted to register at the poll. (In Colorado, you can register up to the day of voting is over.) One was a utility bill with the name of the person and a Colorado address. And there were student IDs, military IDs, forms of ID used by indigenous Americans, Medicare card, and others that I would have to look up.

  • 2 weeks later...

The grift is back in full flow on Art’s Facebook…..

They don’t know how they’re going to make the bare minimum by October and all their energy is going towards sorting prescriptions and their first doctors appointment so they can’t write much. Food money for Ryann hasn’t arrived yet. I’m assuming this is some sort of welfare amount specifically for food? Coupon form? They haven’t specified an amount but are begging for donations.

Having just received thousands in the last couple of months I just…..I don’t know. If Art is genuinely in this much pain constantly and genuinely genuinely cannot work……but some of the things they say…..they clearly cannot manage money and have no energy to write but have all the time in the world to constantly post memes on Facebook about the rich (or let’s be honest, anyone who works or just has money because they work).

I’m so torn with this one. Art just will not see that they really need to start helping themselves.

Foodstamps are now SNAP and come in the form of EBT (debit card).  I wonder how long it took them to get to the office to handle that after they arrived.  It shouldn't be complex for them after all this time on SSI.   They are indeed just like the old time grifters just in modern online form.  There's always an excuse.  I'm dealing with much, much, much more complex medical issues than they are at the moment and yet....here I am.

My neigbor asked me how many prescriptions I'm needing to keep straight and I don't even know that.  I do know which one I need to get refilled next which is what is important.  One doctor appointment and two or three prescriptions are keeping them from writing?  That's mere child's play.  All they do is not plan, not organize, deflect, make excuses and beg.  I'd be so embarrassed.

Most states allow you to file for assistance online or in person. I'm sure they procrastinated and dwadled and delayed the application process for reasons that could have been overcome with a little forethought- they didn't have internet, didn't have ID, didn't know they could use the old ID and a piece of mail, didn't have mail, couldn't mail something to themselves because they didn't have a stamp, couldn't get a stamp because no phone or internet, didn't know where to buy stamps/etc.

Every day it's an excuse and more lazy reposts of propaganda designed to divide the country. They need to touch some grass, for real.

I’d be hesitant to take that website too seriously. It’s not official, it’s just a private company that charges people to fill out information and order a birth certificate - things they could do themselves.
If accents and umlauts etc aren’t allowed in some states it’s probably related to ease of use /clarity for the font /typeface in gov paperwork.

They can use online and the phone, and many only have their phone to complete applications (services, jobs, etc. not that they're applying for jobs..God forbid!)...so many remote, WFH options still, but that would involve... work! exPOS would talk to a human and use the phone for EBT renewal, etc.

I would love more money, but not a grifter and I work. I've been thru layoffs, etc. Getting another job after he was out of the house, on top of recovering from and dealing with that and legal shit to try and stay safe, was one of the hardest things. But I did it. Sometimes things suck azz but you try and push thru. It's hard as fuck, too! and I was the main "provider."

*One of my parents used a checklist for all their meds. They needed to to stay organized and for services follow up. Another uses a pill organizer. Some people use apps ... personally, with the way things are going I wouldn't track any of that through an app! Fkn ridiculous

Has Art ever said whether they have been diagnosed with ADHD? There are elements of the planning and procrastination that sound like they could fit into that spectrum.

And then I look at the amount of energy invested in getting money to move, along with the (unmentioned) holiday in the middle, and well, I wonder as well.
